Tony Freeman is one of the most popular bodybuilders, known around the world as X-Man . He was born in South Bend, Indiana, on August 30, 1966. Tony got his nickname thanks to a magnificent figure, which is very similar to the letter X - an incredibly narrow waist (only 76 cm), very broad shoulders and huge hips.
Freeman has a very interesting biography in the field of sports career. As a teenager, he was negative about bodybuilding. But everything was decided by chance. Beloved Tony lived in another city, and the future athlete was jealous of her for all men. When the girl showed Freeman a photograph of a friend who was interested in bodybuilding, Tony became furious and decided to prove that he was capable of more. Thus began his sports career.
Tony Fremeni in bodybuilding
Tony began to study hard. His successes were amazing - in just a year and a half he increased his weight by almost 20 kg. In the early 90s, Tony began to take part in AAU junior tournaments, and in 1990 took 4th place in the Mr. America competitions. After 3 years, he became the best among non-professionals among NPC juniors. Excellent prospects opened up for Freeman, but, unfortunately, he could not rise above 4th place.
In 1996, Tony stopped participating in competitions. According to official sources, the fault was a chest injury a couple of months before the US Championship. As a result, he ceased to be interested in performances and decided to live an ordinary life. Until 2000, Freeman did not agree to breast surgery, not trusting doctors. But still, a familiar plastic surgeon convinced Tony that he would be able to undergo a recovery operation without any sad consequences. Indeed, the operation was excellent, and a year later the athlete was able to return to the podium. He was awarded 2nd place in the Coastal USA Championships . This did not suit Freeman, and in 2002 he was able to win first place in the super-heavy weight category. A year later, he was given the status of a professional of the International Association of Bodybuilders.
During his career, Tony Freeman 9 times won the title of champion. As for Mr. Olympia, he was not lucky here - he could not rise above 5th place. But, given his ambitiousness and willpower, one can fully expect that X-Man will someday be able to take the top podium at the most popular competition in the world of bodybuilding.
